Moodle Resources for Active Learning.

In this session Dr Nellie walked us through how to use Moodle rather than just talking about it. Unfortunately once the screenshare didn't work so we had to listen and use our imagination. We seemed to be unable to communicate with Dr Nellie during the screenshare so she was not aware that we only had audio. I don't know whether this is because Dr Nellie was too engrossed in her presentation or whether  the messages don't flag up to the presenter.

First of all we talked a little about the theory, including the ideas of John Dewey, which has ideas about connecting with students and teachers, experiencing the learning and rewards for learning. We also talked about Learning by Teaching an idea from Jean-Pol Martin.

She then went on to talk us through the google doc  which is like the control centre for the course. If you want to know what is happening when, where and how the answers are there. After that she took us to the MMOOC moodle which you can access through the syllabus or through moodle4teachers site . She then started to walk us through the weekly syllabus and using the teachers practice area. Unfortunately I am unable to access  the site any further so I had to imagine the rest of the tour.

But then I discovered this video that Nellie had kindly put up on youtube which seems to explain the stuff we missed.

It does look very straightforward and easy to use.
